Birding Resources and Reports
The health of bird populations directly reflects the state of our natural environment and the habitats upon which people and all flora and fauna rely. Bird count data collected by citizen scientists is used by biologists and naturalists to assess population trends, evaluate the distribution of birds, and guide policy decisions when protecting species and ecosystems.
In addition to ad hoc bird watching, a few of the bird counts that Nature London and its members participate in include the following:
- Baillie Birdathon
- Christmas Bird Count
- Christmas Bird Count for Kids
- The Great Canadian Birdathon
- Great Backyard Bird Count
The Middlesex County Bird Checklist and Middlesex County Winter Birding Checklist are printable brochures listing birds that may be seen locally.
